Residential Rain Garden

WaterFarmers designed and built this 1,000 square foot rain garden to provide a suitable and beautiful area to discharge downspout and sump pump water from a new home in Mississauga. Catch basins were installed with underground piping beneath a new pathway, and water from the basement sump pump and two downspouts were directed to a rock swale and soakaway pit in a rain garden filled with a variety of native plantings. This created a new space for beneficial plant species and allows stormwater runoff to be managed on site though infiltration into the ground, reducing the stormwater load on municipal infrastructure. We worked with the landscapers for the rest of the property to integrate the rain garden with the overall plan.
