Microgreen Container Greenhouse

This retrofit of a shipping container greenhouse demonstrates the feasibility of an extended growing season in a dense urban environment. WaterFarmers installed heaters, ventilation, insulation and thermal mass to improve the container environment for growing. Microgreen and fresh food production is possible for three seasons. The community center is able to use the space to provide employment opportunities for youth, and sales of produce to local restaurants can help to support the center’s initiatives.
